This year we will again embark on our literacy initiative called One School, One Book. The program aims to foster a love of reading in students, strengthen our home-school connection, and continue the theme of social emotional learning within the RBS community through literature and shared experiences.
As with everything else that is happening in our world, this year’s OSOB will look different. Kelly Michel, Lisa Mitchals, Melanie Saxa and some Mystery Readers will each be reading SEL books from our collection. We’re calling it One School, One New Book Each Day. We’re hoping this gives families the opportunity to listen to enriching stories together and, if they choose, to have discussions of the SEL themes presented in the books as well as how they can use what they have learned in their own lives.
One School, One New Book Each Day will commence on Monday, February 1 and conclude on Friday, March 5th, taking a break on February 15 & 16. A calendar with live links will be eBlasted to families, emailed to staff, and posted here.
The district has created a COVID 19 Dashboard that will be updated every Friday. This will include the most current number of staff and students who are quarantining due to being COVID positive or having had a close contact. This data is compiled by information families and staff share with our school nurses.
Please remember to contact your school nurse if:
- Your child is having key COVID-19 symptoms,
- Tested positive, or
- was exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19
