One School One Book
We have begun a special program at Race Brook School called One School, One Book. Every family at RBS should have received one copy of the novel Gooney Bird Greene by Lois Lowry . This initiative aims to foster a love of reading in students, strengthen our home-school connection, and bring the themes of friendship and acceptance to life within the RBS community through literature and shared experiences.
We ask that you read one chapter with your child each night. We hope you will share this book with your entire family. Reading together helps children become better listeners, builds vocabulary, and creates positive feelings about books. Please see the links below to access the calendar and questions for each chapter. We ask that you do not read ahead. We ask that you take a few minutes each night to discuss the questions with your child.
By clicking the video links in the calendar, you and your child can watch a teacher, staff member, or community member read each chapter of the book.
Thank you in advance for participating and helping to instill a love of reading in your child.
*Please treat the books kindly as we are asking that you return them at the end of our event so that they can be shared with another school in Orange.
