Hello! My name is Teri Alves and this is my 20th year teaching elementary students. I've taught grades 2, 3 and 4, but I love 3rd grade best! I spent 11 years teaching in Newtown before moving to Orange in 2015 and making my return to Race Brook School. Race Brook is where I student taught as a Quinnipiac student in 2004. I have a Bachelor's in Psychology with a Spanish minor and a Master's in Elementary Education. I completed a 6th year certificate program in Technology Integration in 2021.
When I'm not running, reading, or riding my Peloton, I enjoy spending time with with my two daughters, Avery & Adrian, and our old beagle, Charlie Brown. Fun facts: My favorite color is purple and I don't drink coffee! Oh, and don't be surprised if you see my twin sister around town! She lives with her family in Orange as well. At least she's pretty used to being called "Ms. Alves" by now.
Never hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns!
Students should spend about 30 minutes per night on homework.
This includes 15 minutes or more of independent reading and usually a written homework task- either math, writing, or spelling.
