Dear Orange Families,
Last evening, November 19, 2014, the Litchfield CT Board of Education appointed me as their new Superintendent. I knew this would be a bittersweet moment for me, as I have enjoyed working with you and am genuinely appreciative of the opportunities I was given. However, Litchfield brings me closer to my family in Massachusetts at a time when I feel the need to be closer, and the work of a pre-K - 12 district is appealing as well..
I am proud of the long list of successes the Orange Board and administrative teams have accomplished in the past three years – from the facilities improvements and bond projects to our implementation of PBIS and new math and language arts curricula; from our advancements in security and technology to the moment the Elementary Marching Band 'enraptured' the crowd on Orange Center Road this past Memorial Day. I am equally proud of the excellent teaching staff that has faced so many challenges and undertaken so many new state initiatives with skill and professionalism.
If you wish, you may read my attached letter of resignation which I sent to the BOE a few moments after Litchfield's vote.
I wish you all the best, and have a Happy Thanksgiving,
Lynn K. McMullin
