Peck Place School

Built in 1969, Peck Place School is a neighborhood school with approximately three hundred fifty students in grades one through six. The building has a distinctive architectural design which places our multimedia center as its focal point and hub of activity. Its central location makes it readily accessible to all students.

There are over sixty caring staff members who work together to create an energetic, academic learning environment. The staff has been fully trained and has implemented PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports). Students and staff have fully embraced P.A.W.S, which stands for practice kindness, act responsibly, work and play safely, and strive for success. By recognizing the positive, analyzing areas for growth, and celebrating our success, we have managed to create a school climate where we work hard but have plenty of fun as well.

The school’s learning approach addresses the four domains (cognitive, physical, personal/social, and creative expression) of child development appropriate to the age of its students by providing programs that celebrate diversity, promote a sense of belonging, foster positive relationships and set high expectations for all. In addition to being instructed in the core areas of reading, writing, mathematics, social studies, and science, students are also enriched in the areas of art, music, technology, physical education, and Spanish. There also are opportunities for enrichment in our LEAP program or in band or orchestra. In addition, Peck Place students have yearly experiences through cultural assemblies and service projects led by our Student Ambassadors that help promote tolerance, empathy, and to connect our school to the community at large.

Parental involvement is a key contributor to the success of The Peck Place School. Our PTO is an active organization that funds buses, Field Day, enrichment programs, and so much more. They are instrumental in creating a strong school-family bond and a sense of connectedness. They host countless activities during the year for children of all ages.

Our school works to educate the whole child, develop responsible, respectful, and productive citizens, and prepare our students for the future. In short, Peck Place students are known for the prints their paws make.
